Emeka Onyweu, MD
Born in Washington D.C., Dr Onyewu attended elementary school in upstate New York. He completed his high school education in Nigeria before attending Boston University as a commonwealth scholar. He graduated from Boston University school of Medicine in 1990. He completed his general surgery at Howard University Hospital under Dr. Lasalle Leffall earning the chairman’s award both as the intern of the year and the Chief Resident of the year. He then completed his plastic surgery fellowship at the Georgetown University Hospital under Dr. Scott Spear. Dr Onyewu became a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery in 1997.

His special interests include surgery of the breast, reconstruction, augmentation, breast lifts as well as body sculpturing using liposuction. He also has an interest in Keloid scars. He has done research on the effects of radiation on breast reconstruction using saline implants. The article was published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in March 2000.
